house!

shane busted a serious move on the house--changed his mind on the color and repainted the shakes with pure dignity and grace. there are reasons projects like this aren't left up to me--i'd never consult a color-wheel and quite frankly, i don't know the difference between a color and a tint. and i'm totes OK with this. green, grey, brown. beautiful. new porch next spring! boooyah!

eloise update

this weather has been great and we totally deserve it considering the crummy september and early october weather we had. eloise loves to hang outside and crunch around in the leaves.

i had a little coffee party at my house on Native American Day (you Minnesotans call it Columbus Day) and invited jojo, Lu, Krista & pella. it was great fun! the coffee was super delicious -- so was the baileys! eloise and pella had a total blast playing together, too. the photo above certainly portrays pella's reaction to eloise for the first 30-45 minutes and jojo LOVING the snuggle time with the little ladies. pella had just woken up from a nap and eloise was trying her hardest to be the gracious hostess/welcoming committee that she is. too cute!

there was a moment where eloise and pella chugged their water sippy cups and then switched and chugged the other--this little charade went on for a few minutes...krista and i looked at eachother and she finally said, "they will be so much trouble in 16 years....oh my god!" they were practicing pounding a 40, i think. pella is 2 months older than eloise and will certainly share all she knows as she is the older, the wiser AND the one who should be setting a good example :)

scaffolding in the back and still a pretty sweet little face--let's hope she likes the snow, too!

so. i'm 31. i had a fabulous happy hour with friends on fryday the 13th. i ate a delicious carrot cake and drank some equally delicious summit pale ales from my lovely husband. i listened to voice and read text messages from friends and family wishing me well on the world holiday that happens to fall within a certain birthday month....are you nauseous yet?

OK, enough about me--95% of you only come here to see photos of eloise or at least get an update- i'm at work on my lunch break unable to upload photos-- you see, we've had a restless child the past few nights which caused all of us to be in bed before 8:30 last night--hmmmm could she have another ear infection? WHY YES, YES SHE DOES.

WANTED: one new right ear. i don't care what color or size--only requirement: it can't hurt, ever.

i've tried everything for her: chiropractic care, elevated her head while she sleeps, i've asked her to stop doing milk-keg stands (the milk must just run right back into her ear!) and to smoke outside, only. i'm at my wits end.

so, santa? if you're reading this? please don't forget one right ear. i'll even put a christmas tree this year if you PROMISE to bring one.

spacing out

the whole time-change and the impending darkness that looms late afternoon has caused me to retreat...the polite word is hibernation but in actuality we should call it increased calorie consumption and a bedtime of 8:00pm. Let me give you a mental picture:

7:45'ish...

me: "weez, you getting tired, yet? should we get some milk?"

eloise: signs for milk and waddles to the kitchen and waits patiently as i prepare her evening fix.

we both head back to the living room where she crawls up on the couch (by herself!) and pounds her bottle one-handed.

8pm'ish...

i haul a milk-full & drowsy baby to bed...we snuggle, we pass out. we drool.

9-10pm'ish....

shane follows suit, crawls into bed with his slumbering-drooling ladies.

5am-7am'ish....

eloise sits up in bed and bounces on her butt...occasionally clapping and saying, "dada".

we lead exciting lives, folks. stay tuned for more as i'm sure the crazy is just around the corner!

sneak peak

hair contest

i started a hair growing contest with eloise and shane....they just don't know it or admit it. it started a couple months ago. who can go the longest without a cut. Shane cut his own hair a little about a week ago....eloise keeps putting peanut butter in her hair--mine is just nice afro-like locks growing up and out rather than long.

wish me luck!

GREEN living and a little extra in our pockets...

Dear Fry Family,

Your budget bill amount was reviewed and changed to $38 effective with your next bill. Your Budget Billing Plan will be reviewed periodically and you will be notified of the results through a bill message. October is your year-end review month.

During this budget plan year you have been billed $223.12 more than your energy costs.

Love,

MidAmerican Energy.

------------------------
shane and dad blew in insulation last september , shane busted his butt reglazing and rebuilding all of our windows-- and our energy bill has dropped from $50 to $38 per month. do you know how beautiful this is? what we saved this last year equals what we spent on insulation....this. is. fabulous.

can you tell i'm antsy?

shane's been busting his buns on painting the house...just tonight he said the next house we live in will not be painted by him--it will either never need paint or we'll plan for that expense when buying...when you do things right and don't cut corners, it takes TIME.

i love the green...love, love, love it!

the shakes will be a dark tan (same color as the studio in the backyard)...and the foundation will be a charcoal. THANKFULLY, the weather is looking promising for the weekend.

when i got home from work on tuesday, he had just one tiny piece of the soffit left to paint--they are now butter-cream and it looks so much cleaner!

it's quite a change from when we moved in. it will be so much better than this!
